The engagement improved Azure governance and gave Princess House greater long-term visibility into cloud usage and spend.

When unexpected cloud charges surfaced in Princess House's Azure environment, a proactive review by SHI uncovered the issue before it could go further.

    Challenge:

Princess House is a direct-selling company that markets premium kitchenware, cookware, and home goods through a large network of independent consultants across multiple countries. Like many growing organizations, Princess House operates with a lean internal IT team while managing a complex Microsoft Azure environment. As part of this environment, the company relies on SHI to provide ongoing Azure management and Microsoft licensing guidance.

During normal operations, Princess House experienced an unexpected increase in Microsoft cloud charges related to Azure services. While business systems continued to function as expected, the rise in costs created concern around spend predictability and highlighted the need for deeper visibility into cloud usage patterns.

    Solution:

The issue was identified proactively during Quarterly Business Review (QBR) preparation, where SHI performed its standard review of the Azure environment using the five Azure Advisor pillars. This review surfaced an abnormal increase in consumption within a specific Azure service configuration that warranted further investigation.

SHI worked closely with Princess House to review the configuration, validate expected usage patterns, and implement an improvement that aligned the service more closely with business requirements. The change immediately stabilized usage and eliminated the source of unexpected charges.

In parallel, SHI engaged Microsoft on Princess House’s behalf to review the historical charges associated with the configuration and facilitate a billing resolution.

    Outcome:

As a result of the engagement, Princess House achieved improved cost stability and greater visibility into Azure service usage. The configuration adjustment removed the source of unexpected charges and strengthened overall operational governance within the environment.

More broadly, the engagement demonstrated the value of SHI’s ongoing Azure management program. Through regular reviews and governance-focused activities, SHI continues to help Princess House maintain cost control, improve predictability, and ensure that cloud services remain aligned with business needs. For an organization with a small internal IT team, having a trusted Microsoft partner proactively monitoring and guiding the Azure environment has delivered clear operational benefits.

“SHI helped us really find the best license agreement and it's been working great.”
